ADRIAN — Adrian Public Schools has formally recognized the two winners of their essay contest, launched in partnership with the City of Adrian’s Bicentennial Celebration.

The two winners, Lance Smiddy and Nathan Coburn, are both 5th graders at Prairie Elementary School.

Their essays, which were personally chosen by city officials, were placed in the Bicentennial time capsule, which will be opened in 2075.

Criteria for selection included personal connections to the City of Adrian, favorite local places and traditions, current community challenges, and visions for the city’s future.

At the APS Board of Education meeting on Monday, Superintendent Nate Parker acknowledged the two winning students in his Good News Report and presented them with certificates.
