ANN ARBOR — The Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute in Adrian is teaming up with the Ann Arbor Art Center for a special art show later this month.
The event is called Michigan Contemporary Craft. It will feature 12 artists trained at the Adrian Trade School. Their work combines the skill of the trades with the beauty of fine art.
The free show opens with a public reception on Thursday, August 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Art Center. It will run through October 5.
Organizers say the goal is to highlight how trade school graduates are ready for careers and can make pieces worthy of a museum.
The Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute offers training in furniture making, timber framing, and other woodworking skills, drawing students from across the country.
