ADRIAN — The City of Adrian has recognized the Alliance Center for Workforce Development with a formal proclamation.

Mayor Angela Sword Heath presented the honor during Monday night’s commission meeting.

Interim Executive Director Ron Griffith told commissioners that the Center’s first flooring certification program graduated 11 students, each of whom secured a job before finishing the course.

The training was offered at no cost through national partnerships and grant support. Griffith said the Center plans to expand offerings this fall, including courses in IT, human resources, and Microsoft Excel.

The Align Center will also host a Back-to-School Bash on August 17 at its new location on East Church Street. The event is open to families and will include food, activities, and school supplies for students from pre-K through 12th grade.

The Center aims to connect local residents with practical job training and career opportunities.
