
Russell Eugene Knoblauch, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Russell was born on April 22, 1932, the youngest son of Rudolph and Minnie (Brenke) Knoblauch’s eight children. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. On February 28, 1953, Russell married Darlene C. Sengstock in Sylvania, Ohio at Olivet Lutheran Church. Russell and Darlene celebrated 45 years of marriage before her death on November 26, 1998. Together they raised 8 children and shared lots of love and laughter along the way. He worked as a forklift driver at Toledo Concrete for over 40 years before retiring. Russell was a calm, hardworking man who was quick to help those in need. He enjoyed being busy in his garden. Russell grew up with a passion for farming, he helped to raise cattle, sheep, pigs and later in life helped his children raise chickens, geese, ducks and rabbits. In his free time, Russell enjoyed playing Euchre and providing great care to his pets.
He is survived by his children; Edna Lauffer, Gloria (John) Mitchell, Kevin (Tina) Knoblauch, Shirley Knoblauch and Mary Knoblauch, and; grandchildren, Rosemary Lauffer, Virle Lauffer Jr., Danny Ely, Raymond Knoblauch, Gregory Knoblauch, Dewitt Lauffer Jr., Darlene Lauffer, Daisy Hegwood, DeAnna Stretch, Delilah Webb, Amanda Nordeste, Tiffany Havens, Chelsea Knoblauch, Russell “Rusty” Knoblauch and Holly Knoblauch; along with many great grandchildren and extended family members.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darlene, sons, Tim and Terry and daughter Karen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield where visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial to follow at Ogden Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
