TECUMSEH — The City of Tecumseh’s largest well will soon be undergoing repairs.
The Tecumseh City Council on Monday approved a quote from Peerless Midwest for over $27,460 to rehabilitate the lead well in the city, Well number 14.
Back in June, the well started experiencing daily pressure losses, according to the city’s Utilities Department.
Peerless determined that the well’s 40-inch screen was plugged, due to high iron content in the groundwater and the high usage of the well.
This rehabilitation work is considered by city officials to be an emergency purchase, and is thus exempt from competitive bidding.
