Jet Fuel Sales Climb During Race Week

ADRIAN — Jet fuel sales spiked during this year’s NASCAR race weekend, with more than 3,000 gallons sold, up from 2,600 gallons last year at the County Airport.

Airport staff reported that two additional aircraft flew in for the event, and pilots were once again welcomed with homemade catering, which drew rave reviews. Word-of-mouth has already spread, with several crews saying they plan to return next year.

The busy weekend capped off a smooth operation that included extra staffing, extended fueling hours, and strong coordination on the ground.

Looking ahead, airport officials say jet fuel sales are expected to remain strong through the summer, thanks to active crop-dusting operations already underway.

The increased air traffic and fuel demand are seen as a positive sign for the airport’s continued growth and community role.
