City Approves Purchase of Winter Street Property

227

ADRIAN — The Adrian City Commission has approved the purchase of 227 North Winter Street as part of the ongoing Courthouse Commons redevelopment plan.

Mayor Angela Sword Heath confirmed that while no specific plans for the structure have been finalized, the parcel was necessary to unify adjacent city-owned land on the block.

The property includes a narrow strip identified as Parcel One in the purchase agreement. Officials say that piece had prevented full development of the site.

The resolution passed unanimously Monday night.

The property is currently occupied, and relocation plans for tenants have not yet been announced.

The purchase clears a legal obstacle in the city’s plan to revitalize the block surrounding the old county courthouse.

Mayor Sword Heath said the next phase of planning will begin once the sale is finalized.
