ADRIAN — Adrian Public Schools is reporting increases across the board in youth sports and strength development participation.
Coordinator of Strength Development and Recreation Toby Ernst told the school board at their Monday night meeting that the district’s athletic programs had seen a three-year growth in sports participation across all four seasons.
Total participation for each season from 2022 to 2025 saw fall sports with 876 athletes, winter sports with 1,127 athletes, spring sports with 635 athletes and summer sports with 1,336 athletes.
Winter sports saw the biggest increase, with over 200 new athletes since 2022, due to the addition of four new programs.
Weight room participation also increased, particularly in the summer and among female students.
