ADRIAN — A former Adrian College baseball player is headed to the Major Leagues.

Dugan Darnell, a 2019 graduate of Adrian College, was promoted to the Colorado Rockies on Friday. Darnell pitched and played third base during his time with the Bulldogs before signing a minor league deal with the Rockies in 2020.

He joins the Major League roster from Triple-A Albuquerque, where he went 5–2 with a 3.52 ERA this season. Over five minor league seasons, Darnell has posted a 21–8 record with 332 strikeouts.

As a senior at Adrian, he recorded a 0.53 ERA and held opposing batters to just a .056 average.

Darnell made his MLB debut this past weekend when the Rockies hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He becomes just the fourth player in Adrian College baseball history to reach the Major Leagues.
