RIGA TWP. — Riga Community Days is back this Saturday, August 2nd, with a full lineup of free, family-friendly fun.
Events run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Riga Community Park, behind the fire hall. Attractions include bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and a walking track parade at 11.
Nearly 100 vendor spots have been filled, and thanks to sponsors and volunteers, food is free all day. The fire department and scout troops will serve hot dogs, cotton candy, chips, ice cream, and more.
Riga Community Days Committee Member Eric Martis:
Kids can try archery with River Raisin Sportsman’s Club or make crafts with the Blissfield Library. There’s also a stepping stone painting contest, a tractor show, and the return of the tugboat drop game, where mini boats are dropped into a pool for prizes.
An appreciation ceremony will honor Riga’s firefighters, and a 4-H bake sale will run throughout the day.
