
Laura Jane (Spahr) Childers passed away Friday July 18th, 2025 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. She was born August 19th, 1946 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Charles and Betty Spahr. She worked hard her whole life, spending much of her time at Alson’s Corp and Bailey/Venture. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids, and taking care of her garden named “Betty’s Place.” During the season, Sundays were reserved for her favorite pastime – football. A compassionate and lively soul, she will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Saxton; her mother, Betty; her father, Charles; her son, Johnny Leroy Saxton; her sisters, Polly, Vicky, Kitty, and Darlene; and her brother, Tony. She is survived by her three daughters, Dawn and Amy Jo Saxton, of Hillsdale, and Erica McCarty, of Quincy; brothers Charles of Plantersville, Texas, and Jeff (Judy), of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren Eric Southwell, Emily (Korey) Riggs, Ellery (Rodger) Watts, Abby Jo Brewer, and Eden Carlisle; and great-grandchildren Malyk Carlisle, Briston and Briella Rumer, Nolan and Dexter Watts, Kavery Riggs, and Briar Waugh.
