ADRIAN — A new bill from State Representative Nancy Jenkins-Arno aims to protect Michigan consumers from deceptive online ticket sales.

Jenkins-Arno, a Republican from Rollin Township, introduced a House Bill to stop misleading websites and hidden fees that often catch buyers off guard.

The legislation would ban online sellers from using event or venue names in URLs without permission, mimicking official websites, or hiding fees until checkout. Unless disclosed, it also prohibits inflating ticket prices after they’re first displayed.

Jenkins-Arno says the goal is simple: to make sure families know exactly what they’re paying for and who they’re buying from.

Quote, “Buying tickets to a concert or sporting event should be simple. Instead, too many people are misled by look-alike websites or hit with surprise charges that only appear at the very end of a purchase. This bill will put an end to those deceptive practices,” unquote.

The bill is now under consideration in the Michigan House.
