Nation’s Longest Yard Sale Starts in Addison

127-yard-sale

ADDISON — The 127 Yard Sale, the world’s longest yard sale, is back, and it all begins in Addison, Michigan.

Started in 1987 by county leaders in Jamestown, Tennessee, the sale encouraged travelers to explore scenic backroads instead of interstate highways. The goal was to draw visitors into rural towns and showcase local culture, attractions, and small businesses.

Today, the route stretches 690 miles across six states — from Addison, Michigan, to Gadsden, Alabama — passing through over 65 towns.

Addison marks the northernmost point of the sale and sits in the heart of the scenic Irish Hills. It’s home to a major vendor stop at Siggy Parker’s General Store, which will offer official 127 Yard Sale merchandise and a new collectible enamel pin.

The Michigan stretch is about 25 miles, but it’s packed with local flavor, from historic town centers to lakeside vendors and family yard sales.

For many, it’s the perfect place to begin the journey south.
