
ADRIAN — Connie Lou Carroll, a longtime community advocate in Monroe, has died at age 77.
Originally from Ohio, Carroll moved to Monroe in 1979 and became a key figure in local service work. She spent 18 years with Michigan Works before joining United Way of Lenawee County, which later merged with Monroe. She eventually served as Executive Director from 2008 until her retirement.
Carroll was active on several local boards and was known for her dedication to youth and family programs. She was a regular at school events, where she was affectionately called “GC” or “IDA GG” by her grandchildren and their classmates.
She passed away last Monday, July 21, at her lakeside home, surrounded by family and under hospice care.
Visitation was held last Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service in North Monroe. A celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
