
Richard Donald “Butch” Fronce, age 77, of rural Adrian, died early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, at his home while under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. Born May 24, 1948, in Adrian, Richard was the younger son of the late Guy and Joy (Keller) Fronce.
Richard married the former Debra Byrd on September 30, 1978, in Manitou Beach. Together, they raised two daughters and enjoyed over 46 years of devoted companionship.
Richard was employed as a social worker with Community Mental Health for over 28 years. Respected in his profession, Butch was very easy-going, patient, and had excellent interpersonal skills. In retirement, he was most content being at home, employing his handy-man talents or being around his dogs. He also enjoyed computer programming and following politics. His great-grandchildren had a very special place in his heart, and they will forever cherish his memory.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Heather (James) Sanders of Adrian; two grandchildren, Tyler Pate (fiancée Jessica Frederick) and Nicole (Dylan) Timms; six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Branston, Oakley, Piper, Kinsley and Knox; nephews and niece, Michael, Peter and Susan Fronce; special cousin, Delcie Keller of Adrian; and his beloved Bassett hounds, Dewey and Willow.
He was preceded in his death by his parents; a daughter, Danielle Renee Fronce; his brother, Floyd “Pete” Fronce; and twin granddaughters, Chelsea and Breece Pate.
The family will receive friends at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. A funeral service for Richard will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29, at 11:00.m. with Rev. David Morton officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
