LENAWEE CO — Lenawee County officials are throwing their support behind the return of a popular state grant program that helped fund recent improvements at Gerber Park.
The County Parks Commission is urging residents, local leaders, and organizations to submit letters or emails of support for the MSHDA Community Amenities Grant, part of the agency’s My Neighborhood initiative.
The musical playground at Gerber Park was funded through “My Neighborhood 1.0.” But the amenities grant line was cut in the program’s second round — and now, MSHDA is considering reinstating it for a third.
Francine Misch, liaison with MSHDA, told commissioners that even informal letters and community photos can make a difference, helping show Lansing how impactful the funding has been.
Commissioners are also encouraging township governments and partners to join the effort.
