
Tom was born in Detroit, MI to Melvin and Mildred Bergman where he spent his early years. He attended Cooley High School in Detroit and went on to graduate from Adrian College. He married fellow Adrian classmate Judy (Baldwin). They settled in Jackson, MI and raised two daughters. He began his career as a buyer for L. H. Field department store in Jackson and ended up in sales for Swenk-Tuttle Press in Adrian, which he later purchased. He also owned Nash Business forms in Jackson. He retired from Grand River Printing in Detroit. Tom and Judy became residents of Adrian in 1980. Tom was an avid sports fan-especially University of Michigan football. He loved his family, was proud of them and let them know it. He would say that he had led a blessed happy life.
He is survived by his two daughters Michele (Alex) Claney of St. Charles, IL and Susan (Mark) Kremski of Adrian; four grandsons, Michael and Tommy Claney and Andrew (Jessica) and Ryan (Carlee) Kremski; and two great grandchildren, Maxine and Caden Kremski.
He was preceded in death by spouses Judith (Baldwin) Bergman and Rilly (Tod) Bergman.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 24 from 10 to 11 am with a memorial service immediately after at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Adrian. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adrian First United Methodist Church or to Adrian College in his memory or to Kiwanis Club of Adrian.
