TECUMSEH — Good news for drivers and downtown businesses: the North Evans Street bridge project in Tecumseh is almost done, and it looks like it will wrap up ahead of schedule.

Work began back on May 27 as part of the city’s voter-approved street millage, with a 60-day construction timeline. Crews have been making steady progress, and city officials now say the bridge may reopen before the end of July.

While a few detours are still in place, traffic is expected to return to normal soon, just in time for the peak of summer.

The bridge work is part of a larger infrastructure effort funded by local voters, aimed at improving roads and walkability throughout the city.
