TECUMSEH — Tecumseh High School is seeking local businesses to join its work-based learning initiative aimed at preparing students for real-world careers. The program offers three tiers of engagement, ranging from job shadowing to paid placements.
The effort aligns with the Michigan Department of Education’s Career Development Model, which encourages early exposure to workplace environments. School Counselor Mrs. Cole is coordinating the outreach, asking area businesses to sign up this summer for semester-long commitments.
Local businesses can participate at one of three levels. Gold Partners offer paid career-readiness jobs to students 5–15 hours per week. Silver Partners host unpaid work-based learning experiences guided by THS curriculum. Bronze Partners provide job-shadowing sessions, either half or full days. All options are designed to help students gain exposure and make informed career decisions.
Interested businesses are asked to complete the Local Business Interest Form linked in the school’s outreach email. Enrollment is open through the summer.
The program begins in the upcoming school year. By partnering, local employers can help shape future talent pipelines, support student development, and strengthen community workforce readiness.
