Dennis Lavon Towne – Tecumseh

Dennis Lavon Towne, age 76, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born in Bryan, OH, on November 4, 1948, the son of the late Don Lavon and Viola Eugina (Schad) Towne. Dennis was joined in marriage with Vicki Lynn Yeagley at Hillsdale Baptist Church in Hillsdale, MI on February 28, 1970, and they enjoyed over fifty-five years together before his passing.

Dennis was a Vietnam War veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his tour of service, he was employed in the automotive industry as a Hi-Lo driver for Ford Motor Company. After retirement he received his CDL and drove truck for a short period of time. Dennis was a member of the Tecumseh VFW, Tecumseh American Legion, Hillsdale Elks and the Brooklyn Moose and also Dennis had a passionate love for his country. In addition to his favorite thing, spending time with his family and friends, he also loved shooting guns, woodworking, fishing and riding motorcycles.

Besides his wife, Vicki, Dennis is survived by his daughter, Traci (Raymond) Solarski of Tipton, MI; his brother Gary Towne of Moscow, MI; five grandchildren, Nick and Emily Solarski of Tipton, MI, Will, Ellie, and Mae Kilkeary of Fairhaven, NJ; a son-in-law, Dan Kilkeary and special friends, Gary Davis and John Kotts. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Don Towne; and a daughter, Toni Towne Kilkeary.

At his request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Dennis will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 12pm at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Rev. Chris Lanham officiating. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of the celebration. Military honors will be performed under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187. His final resting place will be at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Dennis may be made to Elara Caring Hospice and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the VA of Ann Arbor, Elara Caring Hospice, and Hickman Hospital for the compassionate care and unwavering support provided throughout his battle with cancer. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
