Kay Ann Hawkins, age 71, soon to be 72, of Jerome, passed away at Henry Ford Allegiance in Jackson, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, two days after learning she had stage four lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and metastasis to the lymph nodes. She was born in Rochester, MI on June 30, 1953, to the late Raymond and Bille O. (Murry) Young. After graduating from Rochester Schools, she attended Jackson Community College, graduating with an Associate of Nursing degree. She then attained her Registered Nurse License. She married Howard D. Hawkins, and thought the marriage ended, they remained good friends. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2010.
Kay worked at the former Bixby Hospital, Lenawee Medical, and retired from Adrian Dominican Sisters as supervising nurse. She was a very dedicated and hard-working nurse. Family was everything to Kay. She had an immense love for her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed Egyptology, quilting, watching birds and Food Network.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Craig (Brianna), Doug (Dana Cook), and Thomas Hawkins; grandchildren, Zoey, Elena, Freya, Kayden, and Raven; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Myla (on the way); and a brother, Bill (Teressa Bragg) Young. Along with her parents and ex-husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Young.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
