ADRIAN — Adrian’s time capsule from 1975 was officially opened on July 4th as part of the city’s bicentennial celebration.

The capsule, which was buried at Comstock Park by the Daughters of the American Revolution, was unveiled during a noon ceremony on Independence Day.

Before the opening, the Adrian Dominican Sisters delivered a reading to honor the indigenous people of the region.

A historical marker at the site was also rededicated.

Mayor Angie Heath provided remarks during the event, recognizing the city’s 200-year history and the significance of the time capsule.

The capsule’s contents are now on display at the Adrian District Library for public viewing.
