Eilene Lafaye McGee (82) of Britton, MI passed away, peacefully, June 27, 2025 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.
Lafaye was born in Dyess, Arkansas March 24, 1943 to Zebedee and Melvie Shaddix. She was a 1961 graduate of Kingsbury High School in Memphis, TN.
In 1966, she married Doug McGee in Jackson, MI. He preceded her in death (after 56 years of marriage).
Lafaye is survived by her children, Kathleen (Joe) Schultz and Lonnie (Lindsey) McGee. Grandchildren Ben (Xiaoxu) Schultz, Noah, Hannah and Emily Schultz, Zach, Avery and Luke McGee. Great Granddaughter Natalie Schultz. She is also survived by her brother Billy (Bernice) Shaddix and sister Evelyn Morrison, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lafaye was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Arlene Criswell and Lynda Smith, brothers in-law Hugh Morrison and Forrest Smith.
Lafaye loved being a mom, Granny, taking care of her home and four cats. She was a talented seamstress and quilter. She was best known for her love of fashion and always looking her best.
She was a member of the Macon United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Macon United Methodist Church, a funeral service to follow at 2pm with Rev. Michael Vollmer officiating. Burial will follow at Macon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Macon United Methodist Church.
