Robert E. (Skip) Wilks, age 89 years of Addison, formerly of Romulus, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2005, at his daughter’s home. He was born on July 12, 1935, in Detroit, the son of Henry Stephen and Pearl (Hunter) Wilks.

Skip married Betty Perry on May 4, 1955, in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2016. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He worked at Rouge Steel in Dearborn for about 30 years, retiring in 1992. Skip was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn. He enjoyed building and mechanics, cutting wood, taking care of his property and was a jack of all trades always willing to help anyone who needed it. Skip was an avid motorcyclist, snowmobiler and hunter. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Paul) England, four grandchildren; Jerod Wilks, Amanda (Jason) Finkler, Loni (Jonathan) Dau and Arika (Bob) Hindy, four great-grandchildren; Olivia, Evan, Harper and Ryland, a sister, Arlene (Bill) Moyers and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, son, Robert Lee Wilks, daughter, Vonda Wilks, parents and three brothers; Elmo Mayberry, Arthur Mayberry and Calvin Wilks.

Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home with Elder Paul England, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Addison with Military Honors performed by the Hannan-Colvin Post #180 American Legion, Hudson. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
