Rhea Louise Stephens, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at ProMedica Charles & Virginia Hickman Hospital.
Rhea was born on June 18, 1945, in Adrian, Michigan, the oldest daughter of Louie and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Fischer.
On April 20, 1968, Rhea married Bruce Stephens at North Blissfield Immanuel Lutheran Church. During their 50 years together, they were blessed with three sons. Rhea embraced their sons’ activities and never missed a sporting event. Her children and later grandchildren could count on Rhea being in the stands and quietly sending her strength and support out to them.
Rheas worked for Adrian Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant at Adrian High School and LISD. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Adrian, where she was involved in volunteering prepping meals for the local community. Rhea was also a proud member of the Alpha Omega women’s group. She enjoyed building new friendships while learning about others’ hobbies and interests.
Rhea enjoyed being outdoors tending to her yard and flower gardens; with her specialty being tea roses. She shared her knowledge of tea roses with others and would often lead classes on how to care for them. Her creativity showed in the many scrapbooks Rhea completed on family accomplishments and travels. In the winter months, Rhea would leave the Michigan winters behind and head to Florida and Arizona and enjoy the warmer weather with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Jeff (Tarja), Greg, and Brad (Sharon) Stephens, grandchildren, Tomas and Mia Stephens, Jake and Josh Stephens, and Sage and Trey Stephens, her siblings, Raymond, Royal, Roland, Robert and Rebecca and numerous nieces and nephews.
