Kathleen G. Vanderpool, age 86, of Adrian, died early Saturday morning, June 28, 2025, at Fieldstone at Tecumseh Place, while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born October 5, 1938, in Adrian to Kenneth and Kathryn (Schultz) Bowen.

Kathleen went to St. Mary’s School in her early years and later graduated from Adrian High School. She was married to Bruce Vanderpool, Sr. for 30 years and together they raised four children. She worked at several factories and later at Bob’s Market House in Hudson where she worked in the bakery. She then moved to Adrian where she operated a Montessori childcare business out of her home for over 20 years, devoting her life to the welfare of children.

Catholic by faith, she was a faithful parishioner at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Adrian. She also previously served on the board for the Foster Grandparents Program.

Kathleen is survived by four children, Deborah (Roger) Heath of Adrian, Bruce (Tammy) Vanderpool Jr. of Springport, Kevin (Wendy) Vanderpool of Hudson, and Karen (David) Messer of Jerome; eleven grandchildren, Erica, Brandon Danille, Alicia, Kevin II (Katie), Jason (Mindy), Bruceson, Jason, Devon (Mary Margaret), Alex (Kiersten) and Jocelyn; ten great-grandchildren, Bobby, Christiana, Gabrielle, Aiden, Kyler, Kevin III, Emerson, Beckett, Isaac, and Asher; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Bowen; and her two sisters, Judy Scharich and Sue Ann Pelham.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial mass for Kathleen will be celebrated by Father Michael Newman, OSFS, at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary’s Campus on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Private Rite of Committal will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in honor of Kathleen are suggested to benefit the Hospice of Lenawee or Sacred Heart School in Hudson. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
