LENAWEE CO — A Jackson man who died in a single-vehicle crash in Lenawee County Saturday was also suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, June 28th, at 6:09 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Tipton Highway and Kemp Road in Franklin Township for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash with a person trapped inside the vehicle.

Deputies say a 2004 silver Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound on Tipton Highway and lost control of the vehicle, crossing the center lane and going airborne before rolling over.

The driver, a 22-year-old male from Jackson, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was trapped inside.

Emergency personnel on the scene were able to remove the driver, who was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

It was noted at the scene that the driver sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and arm that appeared to be very recent.

Detectives were able to determine that no shooting took place inside of the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating what lead up to the crash, focusing on the area around the Fairgrounds prior to 6 am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dan Hiscock at 517-263-0524.
