Thelma Marie Sheldon of Ann Arbor, Michigan, formerly of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away June 24, 2025.
Dorothy (Sheldon) Wolny, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away October 20, 2006, with cremation taking place at that time. Both were diagnosed with cancer on the same day in 2006.
The sisters were the daughters of Hal and Esther (Schafer) Sheldon of rural Blissfield.
Thelma was born June 1, 1935, and Dorothy was born on June 4, 1942. They both graduated from Blissfield High School.
Thelma was employed by an Electrical Contractor in Ann Arbor for many years and later worked for the City of Ann Arbor.
Dorothy attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1964 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She worked as a Physical Therapist in New York, North Carolina and Florida, and was highly regarded in her profession. Dorothy married Bruce C. Wolny in New York in 1969, and he preceded her in death in 2020. Surviving is a daughter, Beth M. Wolny of Tampa, Florida, and son, Bruce C. Wolny II of Tampa, Florida.
The sisters are also survived by a brother, Lloyd H. Sheldon of Blissfield; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in several states. They were preceded in death by their parents; a brother, Harvey L. Sheldon; aunts, uncles and one niece.
Thelma was also preceded in death by very special friends, Jesse Petty of Pinckney, MI, and Bill Albright of Beverly Hills, MI, who passed away on the same day, November 6, 2017.
Thelma and Dorothy both had a sense of humor and a thoughtfulness and kindness for others. They had a special bond between them in life and will be buried together in Zion Ogden Cemetery.
Funeral services will take place at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
