PORT HURON — The Michigan Hospitality Foundation recently hosted the 10th annual Nate Santelli ProStart Summer Camp, providing 27 high school students with hands-on experience in the hospitality industry.
The four-day camp was held at the Culinary Institute of Michigan at Baker College in Port Huron. Students participated in workshops on restaurant management, tabletop design, culinary arts, and team building, guided by industry professionals.
Michigan Hospitality Foundation Executive Director Amanda Smith said the camp helps students gain practical skills and prepares them for the upcoming ProStart competition, a national event focused on hospitality and restaurant management.
The ProStart Summer Camp honors Nate Santelli, a former Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association Education and Grant Manager, and continues to support students in advancing their hospitality careers.
Students will continue developing their skills as they prepare for next year’s national ProStart competition. Photos from the camp are available online.
