James Eugene Fetzer, age 93, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 23, 2025. He was born in Palmyra, MI to Cecil and Irene (Ladd) Fetzer. On September 1, 1951, James married the love of his life Anna Jean Butler, she precedes him in death.

He worked as a supervisor at Aget Manufacturing in Adrian, MI. In his time away from work he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. Making trips to Canda to go walleye fishing was one of James’ favorite destinations. To say he was a fan of sports would be an understatement. James enjoyed participating in football, swimming, basketball, track and fast pitch softball. He even played on the semi-pro football team Big Reds, but always remained an avid U of M fan. When James wasn’t involved in a sporting event you could find him restoring antique furniture.

James leaves son, Mark (Bridget) Fetzer ; daughters Christine (Terry Lyon) Starry-Lyon, Susan (Ronald) Starry, Marjorie (Jane Rupp) Fetzer, Amy (Lawrence Wollett) Fetzer-Wollett; grandchildren, Candace (Joseph) Booms, Crystal (Skyler) Vaughn, Heather Hamilton, Charles II (Laura) Belser, Ryan Bush, Kyle Bush, Griffin Wollett, Madeline Wollett, Emily Fetzer, Tony (Paula) Fetzer, and Colleen (Michael) Lyall; great grandchildren, Saleen, Amelia, Josie, Carly, Wyett, Andrew, Hunter, Sophia, Charlotte, Alexandria, October London, Ella, Skyshun Jr., Roman, Alexander, Clara, brother, William Fetzer; sisters, Eloise Machnik, Sally Bechtol and Mary Rose Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; his parents; son, David P. Fetzer; brother, Richard Fetzer and sister-in-law, Rose Mary Fetzer.

 

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, with a vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be at Holy Family Parish- St. Mary Campus, on Monday day, June 30, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr Michael Newman as celebrant, burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
