
GRAND RAPIDS — Meijer has issued a recall of Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds after discovering some packages may contain dark chocolate-covered cashews not listed on the label. The recall affects stores in Michigan and five other Midwest states.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration shared the recall notice on June 13, 2025. The issue was identified after a customer reported receiving cashews instead of almonds in a product labeled as almonds. Cashews are not declared on the packaging, posing a significant risk to individuals with allergies or severe sensitivities.
The recall includes:
Frederik’s by Meijer Dark Chocolate Almonds (12 oz.), UPC 7-08820-68730-1, with sell-by dates 05/07/2026 and 05/28/2026
Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds 8-count 1.5 oz. multi-pack, UPC 7-19283-11923-0, with a sell-by date of 05/05/2026
The affected products were sold in black stand-up pouches and multi-pack boxes at Meijer stores in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported so far. Customers with affected products are encouraged to stop use immediately and return the items to the customer service desk of any Meijer store for a full refund.
