Sonny attended Round Top country school and then Adrian High School, graduating in 1963. He worked for GM for 32 years, beginning at Fisher Body, and then Hydra-Matic in Toledo. Sonny served in the Army National Guard/Reserve from 1965 to 1971. In later years he was also a proud member of the VFW Honor Guard.
Sonny always looked forward to his annual gardening including planting, tending, harvesting and even canning, plus he loved just getting out to mow the yard. But his true love of nature was going up north to “the cabin”. Whenever his friend called to invite him up, he was ready to go – even though this cabin is back in the woods with no electricity or running water. For him, this was like his true “dream home”.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and their combined family including; children, Holly (Michael) Wood, Troy (Rachel) Snyder, Jill (Chris) Villanueva, Megan (Zac) Rinck, and Melanie (Kendall) Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan, Katrina, Brianne, Tiffini, Bailey, Morgan, Billie, Alyssa, and Lexi; and three great-grandchildren; plus his siblings, Art Snyder and Mary VanDoren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gary Snyder and Larry Snyder; sisters-in-law Marilyn Snyder and Sharon Snyder, and brother-in-law Don VanDoren.
A gathering for Sonny will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, with a short Honor Guard Tribute at 3:00 P.M.
