Brenda J. Emery, age 82, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2025, at Adrian Bay with the love and support of her family.
Brenda was born on December 28, 1942, in Childersburg, Alabama, the only child of Orville and Eudith (Williams) Hamilton. When Brenda was young, her family moved north to Michigan after World War II and found jobs in the automotive industry. She attended Adrian High School, graduating with the Class of 1961.
While attending Sunday school at Raisin Valley Friends Church, Brenda became acquainted with a young Robert Emery and their friendship grew over the years. They started dating in high school and realized they had found their special someone. On August 11, 1962, they were united in marriage at Raisin Valley Friends Church and have been blessed with over 62 years. Together, they have raised a family, grown in love and shared many family gatherings and holidays at their year-round vacation home on South Lake in the Irish Hills.
Brenda was a busy wife and mother but also had a career in the field of banking. She worked at Bank of Lenawee before moving on to United Bank and Trust where she retired from in 2004, in the Loan Servicing Department. She enjoyed being outside working in her flower beds and vegetable garden; and was an avid reader. The title of grandmother was a role she treasured with her whole heart. She cherished the time spent with her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whether it was taking trips to Hidden Lake Gardens, swimming at the cottage on weekends or going out for ice cream.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Brenda is survived by their children, Tiffany (Keith) Bauer, Stephanie (Todd) Schneider and Grant (Rachel) Emery; grandchildren, Devin Bauer, Jacob Bauer, Rachel Bauer, Brad Schneider, Julie Schneider, Luke Emery and Jill Emery; and great-grandchildren, Bradley Schneider, Genevieve Schneider and Maverick Beagle. She was proceeded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Brenda will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Betz officiating. Burial will follow at Raisin Valley Cemetery.
