ADRIAN — A local veteran has been awarded $3,499 from the Lenawee County Veterans Relief Fund to assist with mortgage costs. It was the only completed application received during the June cycle.
The update was announced during the June 13 meeting of the Lenawee County Department of Veterans Affairs Executive Committee. Veterans Service Director Tammy Sheldon presented the fund activity report, which noted that while there were several phone inquiries, only one formal application was submitted and approved.
The approved request came from a veteran seeking support for mortgage expenses. The application met all eligibility criteria, and the committee approved full disbursement in the amount of $3,499. No other applications for emergency aid were finalized or funded during this period.
The committee also reviewed ongoing aid inquiries and confirmed no additional pending applications for June.
The Veterans Relief Fund remains available for emergency financial needs tied to housing, utilities, or essential expenses. Veterans in Lenawee County can contact the department at (517) 264-5335 to apply.
