
With deep love and heavy hearts, the family of Walter Joseph LaSovage Jr. announces his peaceful passing on the morning of June 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in Chelsea, Michigan on June 4, 1940, Walter was the beloved son of the late Walter Joseph and Anna Lou (Ferguson) LaSovage.
On May 2, 1964, Walter married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Leona Meeks, in Brighton, Michigan. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and shared purpose.
Walter dedicated over 40 years of his life to his profession as an optometrist. A graduate of Michigan Technological University, he served as president of his fraternity and later began his professional life as an engineer with Goodyear. Throughout his life, Walter remained actively involved in his community — serving faithfully as a deacon at his local church and as president of the Owosso, Michigan chapter of the Lions Club.
Walter’s love for sports was well-known and ever-present. Whether cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Pistons, or Red Wings, he found great joy in every game and every season.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn; his daughters, Sheryl Lynn (John) Jablonski of Hamburg, NY, and Deborah Marie LaSovage of Los Angeles, CA; his brothers, Ronald LaSovage of Tecumseh, MI, Roger (Teresa) LaSovage of Mesa, AZ; and sister in law Jeannine LaSovage of Onsted MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Walter’s legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering love for his family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private family service will be held, with interment at Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, Michigan
