
Richard Kyle Gerth, age 55, of Adrian, died unexpectedly at home early Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He was born April 30, 1970, in Adrian, the son of Charles and Mary (Sawyer) Gerth.
A lifelong Adrian resident, Richard was a 1989 graduate of Adrian High School. He married his partner of over 20 years, Lisa Marie (Heck) Turpening on November 1, 2020, at Comstock Park in Adrian, which joined two families into one.
Richie was skilled working with his hands and had an incredible knowledge of auto mechanics. He was currently employed by Hadden Tire in Adrian, where he has worked for over 15 years. Previously he worked as a truck mechanic for the former Gentner Trucking in Saline. He also enjoyed crafting items with his wood lathe. For many years, he assisted with several local roofing jobs with CJ Boozer Roofing. Over the years he enjoyed working on cars, racing at Oakshade Raceway, and videogaming. Richie was quiet, but possessed a good sense of humor, and he deeply loved and cared for his family.
Surviving is his mother, Mary Alice Gerth of Adrian; wife, Lisa Gerth; children, Zackary Gerth of Adrian, Jessica Sheldon of Deerfield, Jody Ejarque of Adrian, Joshua Turpening of Adrian, Justin Turpening of Adrian, Jeremy Turpening of Adrian, and Anthony Heck of Adrian; siblings, Vicki (David) Pinegar of Ridgeland, SC, Jackie (Warren) Peterson of Onsted, Debra (Joe) Walker of Tecumseh, Valerie Barker of Adrian, Linda (Greg) Funk of Pataskala, OH, and Sandra (Larry) Pixley of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Zander, Zophia, Charles, and Kaylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richie was preceded in death by his father, Charles; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Robert; niece, Jessica Peterson; granddaughter, Jayden; and brother-in-law, Ric Barker.
Cremation will take place. The family will host a celebration of life on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the home of his sister Jackie, 6600 Springville Hwy., Onsted, Michigan.
