ADRIAN — Beach season is back — and so is the water testing.
The Lenawee County Health Department is resuming its weekly beach water sampling program at two local spots: Hayes State Park and Lake Hudson Recreation Area. Environmental Health staff started taking samples this week. The goal? Monitor E. coli bacteria levels and keep swimmers safe.
LCHD says the program helps the public make informed choices before diving in — especially with these beaches drawing heavy traffic each summer. Samples will be tested against state safety standards under the Michigan Public Health Code. If bacteria levels spike, the health department will issue an advisory.
That means signs will go up at the beach, and alerts will be posted online. You can check the latest water quality updates at lenawee.mi.us/beach
