ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Land Bank is shifting its approach to funding a key component of its downtown revitalization project.
At this week’s meeting, officials approved paying a $25,000 construction management contract out of the Land Bank’s budget — not through the federal grant backing the project. That move comes after learning the fee would exceed the federal cap on administrative expenses, set at just eight percent.
The county’s community development coordinator said the project wouldn’t move forward without Krieghoff Construction leading the charge. Logging hours for reimbursement, she added, would only push costs higher.
One board member abstained from the vote. But the rest signed off, clearing the way for work to continue on the grant-funded effort.
