ADRIAN — The Kiwanis Club of Adrian is once again rolling out its Avenue of the Flags program — a community service project that turns front yards and business fronts into patriotic landmarks on America’s most meaningful days.
It’s simple, striking, and deeply symbolic. On select holidays, volunteers place full-sized American flags in front of participating homes and businesses. The initiative is both a fundraiser and a visual reminder of unity and respect.
Subscribers get flag placement on seven national holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot Day (September 11), and Veterans Day. Each flag is mounted on a pole and set in a flush, ground-level sleeve, installed just off the curb to avoid foot traffic and lawnmowers.
Organizers say the project “creates national awareness and pride” while supporting Kiwanis programs that benefit the Adrian community.
All proceeds go directly into local service projects, helping children, improving neighborhoods, and funding outreach efforts year-round.
