ANN ARBOR — A teen driver was hospitalized in critical condition after he was thrown from his vehicle in a crash early Sunday morning.

MLIVE.com reports that the crash occurred shortly after 3 am on Sunday, on northbound U.S. 23 in Ann Arbor Township.

Police say a 17-year-old Ypsilanti boy was driving a Nissan Rogue southbound on U.S. 23 when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the median and rolled it several times.

Troopers arrived to find the driver ejected from the vehicle and one passenger, a 16-year-old girl, trapped inside.

Both teens were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The girl is listed in stable condition, police said. The crash remains under investigation. However, police said alcohol or drugs may be a factor in the incident.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Michigan State Police Brighton Post at 810-227-1051.
