Susie Marie Goetz – Blissfield

Susie Marie Goetz, age 82 of Blissfield, MI passed away surrounded by her loving family at Blissfield Place on May 24, 2025. She was born on November 12, 1942, in Adrian, MI to Earl John and Dorothea R. (Goetz) Shorthouse. Susie graduated from Onsted High School with the Class of 1960. She married Dale Walter Goetz on December 10, 1966, in Sylvania, OH and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2025. Dale and Susie were fortunate enough to live the last few years of life at Blissfield Place where they could be found playing cards or dominoes. Susie was also an accomplished puzzle maker. She was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Lenawee Loafers. Susie was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian where she served in various ministries. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and care giver.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Goetz, Dawn (Mark) James, Ellen (Curtis) Snodgrass, Robin Oberlender, Doreen (Michael Chambers) Craft, Matthew (Heather) Goetz, Alysia (Stanley) Masters and Angela Siering; sister in law, Linda (Bill) Bierman; sister in law, Polly Schaedler; grandchildren, Heather, Melanie, Candi, Crystal, BJ, Amber, Stephanie, Rick, Chris, Alexis, Ethan, Elizabeth, Aubrey, Collin, Drew and Emmett; great grandchildren, Austin, Dakota, Justin, Zoe, Stanley, Taylor, Emma, Ashton, Zily, Liam, Lucas, Carson, Addison, Grayson, Dominic, Sammi, Ezra, Waylon, Wyatt, Fischer and Everett; great great grandson, Miles. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 58 years, Dale; brother, Earl A. (Randi) Shorthouse, and son in law, Terry Oberlender.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the start of services at the church. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery after the funeral luncheon.
