MITCHELL, Marilyn Alice (Young), age 96 of Tecumseh, Ml passed away May 14, 2025 under the care of Hospice of Lenawee with her 2 daughters by her side. Marilyn was born May 8, 1929, in Portland, ME, the daughter of Thomas H. Young and Helen (Kennedy) Young. Affectionately known as “May”, she grew up in Falmouth Foreside, ME, the oldest of 7 children. She graduated from Falmouth High School in 1947, earning her varsity letter in swimming. On August 11, 1951 she married the love of her life, Frank “Buzz” Mitchell with whom she spent 63 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2014. She was a runway model for Porteous Mitchell in Portland, ME. She was a secretary at GMAC for a number of years until she and her husband relocated to Ann Arbor, MI. She was a stay-at-home mom and part-time Tupperware lady until her girls were in middle school and high school. At that time she returned to work as a bank teller at Manufacturer’s Bank in Saline, MI. Later she helped open the Comerica Bank location at Scio Church and Main in Ann Arbor, Ml from which she later retired. Marilyn leaves behind to miss her 2 daughters, Lisa (Edward) Pepper and Laurie (Joseph) Brothers; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson; siblings Kay (Ed) Botkin, William (Sue) Young, and Linda (Bill) Gordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Thomas H. (Sharon)Young, and sisters June (Roger) Dunn and Glendolyn (Francis) Gugliotta and their spouses. A warm, loving, and multi-talented optomist, Marilyn was a member of Saline Area Players, where she was recognized for her incredible seamstress skills. She was also well-loved for her delectable cooking and baking, knitting and crocheting, and positive attitude. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at her request. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to all who helped take care of Marilyn.
