ADRIAN — Lenawee County is quietly continuing its work to reduce veteran homelessness — supporting eight veterans with rent assistance.

The update came during Friday’s Veterans Affairs Executive Committee meeting, where officials shared their monthly count of local veterans receiving housing help. These numbers are reviewed regularly as the county works to connect veterans with long-term housing options.

Eight veterans are currently being housed through local assistance programs, with rent covered while they wait for permanent housing vouchers or placement. One veteran remains unsheltered but is being monitored by staff. Officials say each case receives individual attention to ensure the best possible outcome.

While the numbers may seem small, officials say every case represents a critical opportunity to provide safety and support for local veterans — especially as inflation, housing shortages, and utility costs continue to strain household budgets.

The Veterans Affairs office will continue monthly tracking as part of its broader commitment to ending homelessness among those who’ve served.
