ADRIAN — The cheers echoed through Siena Heights as athletes from Lenawee and Hillsdale took the field for the Special Olympics Spring Games — a one-day event that puts inclusion, spirit, and athleticism front and center.
Hosted inside the Fieldhouse at Siena Heights University, the event was led by a volunteer-powered committee of four, working alongside dozens of local supporters. Athletes competed in track and field events, took home ribbons and medals, and shared the spotlight in a day built entirely around them.
Beth McCary, Workforce Development Director at Goodwill and a lead organizer, summed it up like this:
With more athletes competing every year and stronger community backing, organizers say the Spring Games aren’t just a tradition — they’re a blueprint for how to build events around people, not just programs.
