ADRIAN — From courtroom cameras to hallway surveillance, Lenawee County’s judicial building just got a major tech upgrade and nearly all of it was paid for with federal ARPA funds.

At the May 1st I.T. and Equalization Committee meeting, officials confirmed that the bulk of the American Rescue Plan-funded tech improvements at the judicial building are now in place. The upgrades aim to modernize security and streamline operations throughout the courthouse.

Completed projects include full installation of security cameras in hallways and courtrooms, new TVs in probate offices and public areas, and deployment of a live scan computer system, used for digital fingerprinting. A few minor access setup issues remain, but the infrastructure is ready.

The upgrades are part of a larger push to improve security and efficiency across county buildings, using one-time pandemic recovery funds to modernize long-standing infrastructure gaps.

With final tweaks underway, county leaders expect the entire judicial security package to be fully operational in the weeks ahead.
