
Irene Joann Hawkins, age 62, of Tecumseh, MI passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2025, at 4:40 PM, surrounded by her loving family.
Irene was known for her kind heart, warm presence, and unwavering love for her family. She had the unique ability to make anyone feel welcome and valued, no matter how long they had known her. Her devotion to her loved ones was evident in every aspect of her life. She worked for many years at McDonald’s, where she brought joy to coworkers and customers alike. Outside of work, Irene enjoyed sewing, and crocheting. She loved watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions and often spent time tending plants with her daughter. Her favorite moments were those spent playing with her grandchildren or gathered around the table with family for a game of Phase 10.
Irene is survived by her husband, James E. Hawkins; her children, James A. Hawkins, Nathanial Hawkins, Christopher Hawkins (Lisa Stevens), Alysha Hawkins, and Gloria Hawkins; her mother, Barbara Bishop; and her cherished grandchildren, Evelyn, Nathan (James A. and Gloria), Hazel, Mason, Nora (Christopher and Lisa). She is also survived by her siblings, Francis (Marcia) Bishop, Leo (Nancy) Bishop, Andrew (Ruth) Bishop, Joy (Dave) Peckham, Jean (Byron) Gall, and Esther Bishop. She was preceded in death by her father, E. Howard Bishop, and her brother, Duane Bishop, who passed away in infancy. Irene will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her many nieces and nephews. Her memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. Let the memory of Irene flow through us all as a reminder of the strength, compassion, and joy she brought into the world.
