ADRIAN — A new bird has joined the flock; Lenawee County’s official presence on the up-and-coming Bluesky platform is adding followers fast, and the broader digital engagement numbers are soaring.
During the May 1st I.T. and Equalization Committee meeting, officials highlighted explosive growth in the county’s social media reach. While Sprout-managed platforms like Facebook and Twitter continue to dominate, Bluesky (tracked separately) has gained 287 followers in just a few months.
Overall engagement metrics have spiked: post impressions rose nearly 90% compared to last year, reaching over 204,000. Clicks on shared links surged by more than 1,200%, and the overall engagement rate climbed to 8.4%; more than double the industry average. County newsletters are seeing a 50% open rate, far outpacing national benchmarks.
Commissioners praised Communications Coordinator Jennifer Ambrose for leading the charge. The county plans to continue building digital access and transparency, platform by platform, click by click.
Lenawee’s next social media report is expected in early summer, as the county continues tracking its reach one post at a time.
