ADRIAN – Civic Voices is a new interview series hosted by Bryan Vish, focused on community leaders, creators, and public figures making an impact. The premiere episode features Stephen Kiersey, director of the Croswell Opera House’s upcoming production of Anastasia.
The show opens May 9 in downtown Adrian, blending historical fiction, sweeping music, and powerful themes of identity and belonging. Kiersey joined Civic Voices to break down the process behind the production — from casting and rehearsals to designing for one of Michigan’s most storied stages.
While describing the story, Kiersey called it a story reflecting the ‘ghosts of Russia past,’ going on to add, “I think just like the characters in the play, all of us in real life have ghosts in our past that we have to come to terms with in order to move on and achieve the dreams that we want to.”
Kiersey also touched on what makes the Croswell unique, how theater connects generations, and what he hopes the community takes away from Anastasia.
The interview marks the start of Civic Voices, a WLEN segment hosted by Bryan Vish, aiming to bring local issues and stories to the forefront through candid, in-depth conversations.
