
David J. Blair, age 86, of Medina Township, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 5, 2025, at the home of his youngest daughter Pamela Elarton (Jeff son-in-law). David was born June 5, 1938, in Morenci, Michigan to Charles and Viola (Snyder) Blair – Little. On August 16, 1958, David married Ruth Ann Loveland at Fairfield Baptist Church, and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2002.
David was a dedicated member of the Medina Federated Church and participated actively in the church’s Empty Nesters group. He found joy in farming, roller skating, fishing, and playing cards. David was a proud member of the Ameraucana Alliance and regularly attended the Ameraucana Alliance National meets from 2016 through 2024. In 2020, he won Reserve Champion Ameraucana overall for his bantam brown and red Ameraucana cockerel. David also had a fondness for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. Professionally, David worked at American Chain and Cable until his retirement in 1986. During this time, he also opened The Fayette Western Skating Rink in Fayette, Ohio in 1983.
David is survived by his daughters, Janice M. (Bob) Hegert of Adrian, and Pamela S. (Jeff) Elarton of Medina; Nephew/Son Russ (Nicole) Blair of Jasper; eight grandchildren: Brian (Cami) Court of Adrian, Danielle (Jason) Shipman of Palmyra, Amanda (Steven) Williams or Adrian, Nichole (Keenan) Hannigan of Chisholm, MN., Joshua (Gabby) Elarton of Sand creek, Aaron (Janelle) Elarton of Hudson, J.J. (Hilary) Elarton of Hudson, and Nathanael Elarton of Hudson. Twelve great-grandchildren: Jazmine, Matthew, Alivia, Emilee, Zoe, Issac, Ellanora, Payton, River, August, Immelia, Willow, and baby Bailey Ruth Ann due in June.
A Memorial Visitation for David will be held on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at the Medina Federated Church, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life service taking place at 2:00 pm with Pastor Darren Lemmon Officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Greens Lakeside Cemetery in Manitou Beach, MI.
