Kenneth Harold Skiver Jr., affectionately known to many as “Big Ken,” passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.  Born in Taylor, Michigan in 1959 to Margaret and the late Kenneth Skiver Sr., Ken was raised with values of hard work, compassion, and humility. These qualities would go on to define him throughout his life. A master carpenter by trade, Ken built far more than homes and structures—he built a legacy rooted in dedication, integrity, and love. He was a natural teacher, always eager to share his knowledge with patience and generosity, never asking for anything in return.  Ken had a gift for making others feel welcome. His door, his heart, and his time were always open. He had a unique way of expressing deep truths through his famously clever analogies, and his wisdom often left a lasting impression. His character was shaped by kindness, strength, calmness, and unwavering patience. He was the kind of man who showed up—fully and completely—for those he loved. He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and he never missed a good poker night with friends. These moments brought out the absolute best in him and are just a few of the many ways he made life richer for those around him.  Above all, Ken was a family man. He was a proud and devoted father, a loving Papa, a loyal son and brother, and an irreplaceable cousin and friend. His greatest joys were found in the time spent with his children and grandchildren—laughing, teaching, storytelling, or just quietly being present. His legacy lives on in them, in the lessons he taught, and in the love he gave so freely.  Ken is survived by his children: Ken Skiver III (Sonni) and Jeni Poniatowski (Jeff); his beloved mother, Margaret Skiver; his sister, Kim Still (Denny); and his adored grandchildren: Kenson, Hank, Reylyn, Hayvin, Buck, and Zandyr. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Skiver Sr. and his sister,  Terri Tyson. A memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life will be announced at a later date.   Ken will be remembered always—for the life he built, the love he shared, and the strength of his fight.  Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
